If the NFC Championship game seemed painful, that's because it was. Here I turn to Science Fiction and Greek Mythology to help put it in perspective.

Entering this season’s playoffs, if one had come to the conclusion that the San Diego Chargers were the team to beat to win it all--it was no longer a unique thought. Eleven straight wins for the 13-3 Bolts put the entire league on notice, including the formerly perfect Colts (now 14-2), who backed into the playoffs while resting most of their starters. Armed with a potent offense led by QB Philip Rivers, the Chargers are on a mission to reach the Super Bowl for only the second time ever and the first time since the 1994 season.

Following the 34-14 demolition of Philadelphia the Cowboys head north to face a Minnesota team that is a far more threatening opponent. Using the Quality Standings referenced last week the Vikings matched Dallas' 4-2 record. Still, there is no need to rely on the "hot team" or "momentum" crutches to prove that the Cowboys will move on to the Conference Championship. Dallas is incredibly balanced while Minnesota has some glaring holes that will be exploited. |

In one of the three rematches from Week 17 of the NFL season, the Green Bay Packers travel to Glendale, Arizona to take on the defending NFC Champs, the Arizona Cardinals. After torching the Cardinals for 77 points combined during their two wins from the regular season and preseason, the Packers will attempt a three-peat to advance to the second round of the playoffs. It’s difficult to beat the same team twice during the same season, let alone three times, but one must ignore the opening line from Vegas favoring the Cardinals by three points; the Packers are going to win this game for a multitude of reasons.

Delivering heartbreak to the Cowboys Saturday night and extending their playoff winless streak to a 14th season would be oh-so-sweet for every single Eagles fan. Clearly, being faced with a road game against a team that has handled them twice is not an advantage for the Eagles but as my preseason pick to win the Super Bowl, I feel obligated to defend said prediction.
