Courtesy of our pals at FantasyPhenoms.com, this week myself, Adam Ronis of New York Newsday, Tim Dierkes of RotoAuthority.com and MLBTradeRumors.com, Jared Norris of FantasyBaseballGeeks.com and Brett Greenfield of FantasyPhenoms tackled the following question:
There comes a time in each draft where you have to decide between a few similar players. If those players are older, you might not need such a quick trigger finger. If they are young and up-and-coming, you'll have to decide quickly before someone else takes your guy. This week's question is meant to alleviate one of the many tough decisions you might have in this year's draft:
Who do you take first? Adam Jones, Andrew McCutchen or Carlos Gonzalez?

At long last we debut the fourth year of the Fantasy Baseball Roundtable, wherein every week we poll a number of fantasy baseball sites on a given question and give you our responses. This year the participants include a Murderers' Row of fantasy analysis: The Hardball Times, Fantasy Phenoms, RotoAuthority, Razzball, Fantasy Baseball Geeks, New York Newsday (yes an actual newspaper), Advanced Fantasy Baseball and a cast of thousands. We lead off as we do every year with: What were your biggest mistakes in 2009? It appears that many of us made the same mistake last year. What was it? You will have to read on...

Courtesy of Fantasy Phenoms, we were asked for one sleeper hitter and pitcher for 2010. Most of the selections are not huge surprises, except for my two, who were Luke Hochevar and Carlos Ruiz. Check out the link for the selections and explanations. And we will see you next year!

Courtesy of TimDierkes at RotoAuthority.com and MLBTradeRumors.com, this week the Roundtable tackles the issue of giving up on your league.
The most interesting story is from Derek Carty, about one expert league that he is in where a phantom rejection of a trade led him to quit. Personally, I cannot blame him.

Coming down the homestretch, we start looking to next year in the Roundtable. Everyone who knows me knows I have had a man-crush on Ubaldo Jimenez since he came up, and now Adam Ronis, Tim Dierkes and Rob McQuown tackle my prediction that Ubaldo Jimenez will be a top seven fantasy pitcher in 2010. Will I be right?

Courtesy of Patrick Cain of the Albany Times Union, we discuss some under the radar second half players. And extra special thanks to Patrick for educating us on how to pronounce Rzepczynski; now all we need to do is teach Lenny and Tony how to say it.

This week the Roundtable helps out those playing in midseason drafts: where should you draft David Wright? NFBC players, take note. Thanks to Adam Ronis of New York Newsday for the post.

Courtesy of FantasyPhenoms.com, this week the Roundtable discussed the following question:
Three pitchers who have exceeded expectations so far are Jon Lester, Zack Greinke and Justin Verlander. Owners of these pitchers have been relying on them as weekly starters who play an intricate role for their fantasy teams. All three are on pace to strike out over 240 batters. If you had to choose one of these pitchers to continue this trend, who would it be? Why?
Each player has a supporter among the Roundtable, so check out the winner. For me, the answer would be Verlander by a nose over Lester, with Greinke a step below.

Courtesy of Advanced Fantasy Baseball, this week the Roundable addressed the following question:
You find yourself in 7th place in a 15 team mixed 5x5 league. You've just lost your best hitter to injury and your pitching isn't that good. If you really want to win, what do you do?
You can read the answers from the link above. |
