Fantasy Baseball Comeback Players for 2010, Dave Bush PDF  | Print |  E-mail
MLB Players To Watch
Written by Greg Marta
Dave Bush has maintained a tasty blend of control and K rates that have had astute fantasy owners waiting for a breakout for years.  Last season Bush suffered through his worst season in the majors, highlighted by an ugly 6.39 ERA.  The silver lining is that he only made it through 114 innings.  Although Bush has show trouble reaching 200 innings consistently, there is potential value here.
Here are three reasons why Dave Bush could be a top comeback fantasy player in 2010:
  • The second half of last year did most of the damage thanks to a 42% BABIP
  • Despite his struggles still achieved a nearly 3 to 1 K to walk ratio
  • His expected ERA was a serviceable 4.48
No projection system will predict 200 innings for Dave Bush so he'll never be an automatic start week to week.  However most predict a useful ERA, WHIP and number of strikeouts.  The FREE FantasyPros911 Draft Guide predicts an ERA of 4.39 and WHIP of 1.32.  128 Ks over 180 innings can also have a fantasy impact.

The fantasy baseball world has forgotten about Dave Bush as his current ADP is 524.  He'll never be a pitcher worth building around but as an end-game flier can help round out your fantasy team's rotation.  Dave Bush should be a viable back of rotation guy or spot starter in NL-only and deeper mixed leagues.

written by Greg Marta, February 09, 2010
LOL, as my former NFBC partner Johnny can vouch, 'Dave Bush Comeback' articles are becoming an annual tradition - at least I've become completely 100% Oliver Perez FREEsmilies/grin.gif
