Sooze bares her sharp fingernails at Mike Hampton.
The perpetually injured Houston Astros lefty returned to the Big Belt Buckle State after his Saturday physical turned up an irregular heartbeat. Hampton underwent an echocardiogram this morning (a corrective procedure using an electrical current) to correct this not-so-uncommon condition. Basically, the team wanted to make sure he won’t keel over on the mound after being cleared to fly back to camp today. Hampton, 36, has found it virtually impossible to remain healthy over the past four years. He missed most of the 2005 season with five different stints on the DL before sitting out the entire 2006 season after undergoing elbow surgery. And then! A torn flexor tendon kept him on the bench in 2007. Returning to the big leagues for his first start in nearly three years last July, Mike ended his time in Atlanta with a 3-4 record and 4.85 ERA. The Braves then waved goodbye, watching their dead weight mosey on down to Houston, with Hampton receiving $2 million for one year of what can charitably be described as mediocrity. With a once bright future in the game, the $120 million bust has recorded 141 career victories, seeing just eight in the past four years. Check out the poor sap’s mug shot. He looks more ashamed than A-Rod. If you’re thinking about drafting this guy, do so only as a gag in your final round. Trackback(0)

Mike Hampton cannot catch a break. I’m not sure if he broke a mirror once upon a time, or if the guy was just born this unlucky.

maybe if he did something charitable with all his money , i could give a crap about his woes .
