 Pitch and Ditch Notes

Jason Marquis (COL)- Marquis looks like a great two start option this week. He’s currently 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA and he has dominated his two opponents this week throughout his career. He is not going to get you a ton of strikeouts but he could get you a couple of wins and help lower your ERA.

Brandon McCarthy (TEX)- McCarthy looks like a solid pitch-and-ditch guy this week. He looked very good in his first start this year but a little shaky in his second start. However, he has had good numbers against the Blue Jays and the Orioles with ERAs slightly over 4.00 and good strikeout numbers.

Justin Masterson (BOS)- Masterson will be taking over for Dice-K in the Boston rotation for the time being but is he really worth a pick-up? Masterson has been very good at times but mediocre at best for the most part. I’m not confident that Masterson will have enough time in the rotation to get settled and it will show in his numbers. This week looks unfavorable for him as well, as his numbers against the Yankees have been unimpressive.

Jarrod Washburn (SEA)- Washburn has got off to a great start this year and has a couple of favorable match-ups this week. He is currently 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA. He also has great career numbers against the Rays and good numbers against the Angels as well. Another thing in his favor are the opposing pitchers’ numbers against the Mariners. He would be a could pick-up in head-to-head leagues for this week but roto owners might want to stay away.
