What's Bugging Me: Owens Needs To Realize He Was The Problem In Dallas, Not Romo PDF Print E-mail

What's bugging me this week? How about Buffalo Bills WR Terrell Owens calling out Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo via Twitter.
According to an article on NFL Fanhouse, Owens did what he does best by speaking his mind, calling out Romo for his performance against the Giants (13-of-29 for 127 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions) on Twitter. After the Sunday night game between the Cowboys and New York Giants came to an end, Owens tweeted, "Dallas just found out that they had a T.R. problem not a T.O. problem!!"

If Dallas really had a T.R. problem and not a T.O. problem, it might be safe to say that hell has officially frozen over. He can think that Romo was the problem in Dallas but the truth is that Owens was the real problem. He is always the one causing the problems. He has a history of making controversial comments about his teammates, whether they were from the present or the past.

In 2004, Owens caused problems with his comments to Playboy regarding QB Jeff Garcia's sexuality, stating, "Like my boy tells me: If it looks like a rat and smells like a rat, by golly, it is a rat." The following year, he took a shot at Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb when he was upset with his contract situation saying that he wasn't the guy who got tired in the Super Bowl

Let's face it; the main reason why Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones decided to part ways with Owens was because of the "extra attention" he brought to the Cowboys locker room. Week after week, there was always some major headline regarding Owens, whether it was about his feelings after a tough loss or whether he needed to have the ball thrown his way more.

Now, Owens is with the Bills and the extra attention is already beginning to loom around the team's locker room. He expressed his concerns after a tough Week One road loss to the New England Patriots and discussed certain adjustments that needed to be made on offense.

It's one thing to criticize the performance of another member of your team. However, it's unprofessional and immature for Owens to criticize a former teammate just because he is still bitter about his release.

There is no reason for Owens to call out his former teammate because of his poor performance against the Giants. The only reason why Owens has the guts to make the type of comment he did is because he recorded his first career touchdown to help the Bills pull off their first win of the 2009 season.

Instead of calling out former teammates for their performance, Owens should focus on more important issues, such as finding a way to hold on to balls thrown in his direction. It's not like Romo called Owens out for the dropped pass from Bills QB Trent Edwards when he beat a Buccaneers cornerback and was wide open down the right sideline, a pass that could have resulted in at least a 50-yard gain.

Owens needs to realize that he is not the perfect wide receiver he makes himself out to be. If the Bills lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, would Owens still have taken a shot at his former quarterback on Twitter?

My first instinct says no way. Then again, this is Terrell Owens we are talking about. Another instinct of mine says the Bills could finish the season 1-15, and Owens still wouldn't be afraid to make comments about his former teammate.
